Secrets of the Solstice

In December, natural symbols celebrating the holidays abound: evergreens, hollies, mistletoe, even branching menorahs and the first fruits of Kwanzaa. What exactly happens at the solstice? And what is the strange and wonderful history of these– and other– symbols? Executive Director Mike Weilbacher has been writing about these symbols in his weekly newspaper columns for years, and offers a special virtual lecture on the reasons for seasonal decorations.
