Summer Events Are Happening Now and You Don't Need A Car to Get There

Right now parks, trails, and environmental centers have full calendars of programs and events to help you learn about and enjoy the outdoors. Join hikes, bird walks, kayaking, and much more at GoPhillyGo destinations like John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge, Bartram’s Garden, and Wissahickon Valley Park. Every GoPhillyGo destination is accessible by walking, biking, and transit, and the GoPhillyGo Events page is full of fun Summer activities, with easy multimodal directions that take the hassle of driving out of your outdoor time.

Download the GoPhillyGo Android App to find events and destinations near you based on your location, or save the GoPhillyGo mobile site to your home screen for walking, biking, and transit directions on your mobile device.

Transportation is the nation’s number one source of carbon emissions, and everyone needs to work together to fight the climate crisis by reducing car trips. We know you care about the environment, so we want to make it easy to use sustainable modes of travel that lower emissions and improve air quality, and have fun while you do it!  We made a list of some great upcoming family friendly events that don’t require a car to get to. Our team updates the GoPhillyGo Events page often, so visit www.gophillygo.org for more fun events and places to relax in nature without a car.

Sankofa Farm Stand

Purchase fresh chemical free produce from Sankofa Farm every Thursday from 3pm to 6pm at their farmstand at Bartram’s Village at 54th Street and Lindbergh Boulevard. While you are there, check out the farm where the produce came from, and explore the woods, gardens, and hillside overlooking the Schuylkill River at Bartram’s Garden.

Silent Sunset Cruise

Join a guided evening mindfulness hike through Wissahickon Valley Park and connect with nature. Meet at Blue Bell Park, then embark on a 2.5 mile silent walk through one of Philly’s best parks. Enjoy a full sensory experience and connection to nature in the moment.

Butterfly Count

Take a morning walk around the Strawberry Mansion Reservoir and look for different species of butterflies. Learn about the native plants they call home while you enjoy this amazing greenspace in East Fairmount park.
