The grounds opened in 1836 as the nation's second major rural cemetery located 3.5 miles from Center City. Today, visitors can walk amongst the final resting places of many people instrumental in shaping the city. The sprawling 78 acres cover beautiful hillside overlooking the river and the Strawberry Mansion Bridge. There's also a museum and programming all year round.
