Hidden amidst the trees, the Toleration Statue depicts William Penn and commends his policies of tolerance. The statue was erected in 1883 and created by sculptor Herman Kirn. The Toleration Statue was a gift from prominent Philadelphian John Welsh, and now serves as a peaceful spot along the cliffs of Wissahickon Valley.
